RODING ROAD ALLOTMENT AND LEISURE GARDENS ASSOCIATION
R U L E S
(1) Rent must be paid on time.
(2) The plot must be cultivated.
(3) All pathways/footpaths are to be maintained in a reasonable standard and kept free from debris.
(4) No nuisance must be caused to other allotment holders.
(5) No sub-letting of the plot must take place without the prior permission of the Association.
(6) No established trees surrounding the plot may be pruned without the Association’s permission, and no soil or turf etc, taken away.
(7) No building may be erected without written permission from the Committee.
(8) All access gates must be kept closed and locked when not in use, at all times.
(9) Water must not be wasted, and siphoning of water is only permitted from dip tanks into another water-tight container, which must not be allowed to overflow.
(10) The allotment must not be used for trade or business.
(11) No refuse (apart from compost or manure in reasonable quantity) must be deposited on or around the plot.
(12) No barbed wire must be used in fencing the plot.
(13) Trees may only be planted with the permission of the Association.
(14) Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
(15) No livestock may be kept on the plot, except bees.
(16) No notice or advertisement should be erected other than by the Association.
(17) The Association has the right to refuse admission to any person attending the plot unless that person is accompanied by the tenant, or a member of the tenant’s family.
(18) Disputes between tenants will be referred to the Association, whose decision is final.
(19) The Association must be informed if the tenant changes his/her address.
(20) Allotment buildings must be kept in good repair.
(21) All complaints should be put in writing to the Committee. Such complaints must be acknowledged by the Secretary within twenty-one days of receipt. The Committee shall meet to consider a complaint within forty-two days.
(22) Any members in possession of firearms or other similar weapons on land controlled by the Association render themselves liable to immediate termination of their tenancy agreements and membership.
(23) Parking of vehicles will only be allowed on the allotment site while a member is working on his/her plot. Any commercial vehicle exceeding the weight of 30 cwt is not allowed on the site at any time, unless making deliveries on behalf of the Association.
(24) Bonfires
(a) Fires are to be in a cleared area at least 10 metres from any combustible material, and any property i.e. boundary fences etc.
(b) Fires are not to be left unattended at any time.
(c) Fires to be extinguished at least one hour prior to leaving site.
(d) A suitable fire extinguishing appliance to be kept available for immediate use i.e. two buckets/watering cans filled with water.
(e) Bonfires are not permitted between 1 May to 30 September inclusive.
(f) No toxic or obnoxious material to be burnt on the allotment at any time.
(25) The tenancy of the allotment garden shall terminate on the yearly rent day after the death of the tenant and shall also terminate whenever the tenancy or right of occupation of the Association terminates. It may also be terminated by the Association by re-entry after one month’s notice:
( i) If the tenant is in arrear for not less than 40 days, or
( ii) If the tenant is not duly observing the conditions of his/her tenancy, or
(iii) If he/she becomes bankrupt or compounds with his/her creditors.
The tenancy may also be terminated by the Association or the tenant by twelve months notice in writing expiring on 31 March.
(26) All vehicles’ are brought onto the site at the Drivers risk. The Association accepts no responsibility for damage or theft to or from vehicles brought onto the allotments.
